2011 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson SuperCrew

EXECUTIVE EDITOR ROGER HART: I had the 2011 2011 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson SuperCrew for the long weekend, and while it was a big hit at the lumber yard, I spent more time answering questions about the truck and letting people crawl over it than the time it took to load up a new door.

While I like the F-150 a lot, and the 6.2 liter V8 is terrific, I couldn't decide whether owning a truck with the Harley package and not owning a Harley makes you a major-league tool.

While some of the H-D graphics are OK, some are not. I'm not a big fan of the taped-on graphics, but the H-D logo and letters on the truck bed look great. I'm also not a big fan of the H-D graphics on the wheels and seat backs. Why not use the full H-D badge instead? And the Harley-Davidson logo on top of the center console is just plain hideous and uncomfortable for your arm.

Also, despite having 22-inch tires, they look too small for the ginormous wheel openings in the body.

Overall, I give the truck high marks. The horsepower is great, the running boards are terrific, and for the most part, the truck does all the truck things it's supposed to do quite well. The interior space is huge, front and rear seats. But I'm just not sure about the whole Harley trim-package stuff.

EXECUTIVE EDITOR--AUTOWEEK.COM BOB GRITZINGER: It seems like you need to own an actual hog to understand and want this Harley-trimmed F-150. There are plenty of extras here, from the power running boards to the sweet interior appointments to the integrated ladder step in the tailgate--all goodies that you'd want on your F-150. But I'm not sure the average truck buyer would warm to the Harley logos and trim. I could see where that big Harley emblem on the center armrest could become a real pain, and I'm not sure that the special Harley trims and stripes have the same long-term durability as simple paint.

Otherwise, as with any F-150, this is a great truck. This one borders on insanely expensive, heavy and overequipped, but it's a beauty of a truck--especially if you're a Harley guy (or gal).

ART DIRECTOR CHERYL L. BLAHNIK: This 2011 Ford F-150 Harley-Davidson SuperCrew sure turns heads. And how couldn't it, with its black paint and numerous Harley-Davidson logos and stickers all over the exterior? It certainly caught the attention of my Harley-fan neighbor, who came over to take a gander.

However, for me, this package is a bit much. The huge Harley logo plate on the center console lid is overwhelming and uncomfortable. The logos on the seats look inexpensive.

I'm not saying that this F-150 isn't still very nice. The power running boards are slick to make getting in and out of the cabin a cinch. The interior is roomy with tons of space for back-seat passengers. The truck rides smoothly on the expressway, and the high ride height made barreling through flooded streets after the heavy rains no problem.

Overall, this is a nice truck that would look real sharp sans the Harley-Davidson graphics.
